English Breakfast at Cabra-Vale Diggers Club

I never thought i would be waking up early for anything besides going to university early, but i decided that i would try eating morning breakfast at my local club at Canley Vale/ Cabramatta.

What i didn't know was that the breakfast they had was actually a English Breakfast, consisting of bacon, sausages, egg,  hash browns, tomatoes, two slices of bread, and orange juice. Now this is a man's meal!

Since it was in my local club, i thought the food would take a while to come out and we'd be sitting there for a good half hour for everyone on my table to be served, but surprisingly it wasn't and everyone was served at the same time, within five minutes and it was all nice and hot.

Taste wise, i could say it was done nicely, everything was cooked right, except hash browns were over fried a little and the tomatoes which looked very liquidated but standing up right, but can i really complain when they are rushed to serve the customers, also bring the food out to you and at the same time take in the dishes? i can hardly.

The price is a bargain, for members which we pay $5 for joining, we pay $4 for all that food and for non-members is $7. Early birds who are able to wake up early could feast on this for a very long time and it to me is dirt cheap! So if your around the local are, don't forget that you have great food just around the corner!

Tommy's Pizzas and Kebabs

So after work, i am starving, its night time, Anzac Day, and nothing is opened, my friends and brothers also felt the same way as me, so what did we do? we headed down to Tommy's Pizzas and Kebabs at Fairfield West.

This is what I have had for lunch, it is a challenge when eating, it is known by a few names such as 'Heart Attack' or 'Artery Killer' or 'Cancer', but i know one thing for sure. This food is made for the big eaters of fast food.

So what am i talking about? Well what i had this night was the one and only "Snack Pack" or "Meat Box" in other terms. What this consists of is a layer of chips in your ordinary chip box, an optional layer of cheese, and your delicious doner kebab meat or chicken meat placed on top with your delicious choice of sauce.

Now i know what you would think about this food, "Why on earth would you think that is nice?" well for the people that have not tried it, i dare you to starve for the day and then eat it, i can certainly tell you that this food tastes GREAT when your starving, but you will certainly die out either half way of finishing it or near the end.

Of course you can always take it away and eat it for leftovers, either is fine.

So what did this cost me? About $13 dollars including cheese, because the cheese cost, you can either place it on or eat it with just the meat and sauce. Of course, this is if you dare to try Tommy's Snack Pack, would i recommend it? YES!

Tea Thyme

It's Tea Thyme!
If you have a special occasion to celebrate or just want something a little bit different why not try High Tea!
Most city hotels are charging $30 to $50 for high tea, but a short train trip to Hornsby will bring you to Thyme Square, the best Cafe in Hornsby with high tea for only $15 to $25!
The high tea is served on the classic two-tier tea plate with unlimited tea, but arrangements can be made on the day with respect to coffee or other beverages and the service is great.
There is a selection of very tasty sandwiches, chocolate coated strawberries, petite cup cakes and sweet treats to create a very special tea time treat.
The sandwich fillings include creamy chicken with cucmber, prawn and delghtful smoked salmon. The only downside was the bread! While it was fresh, soft, miultigrain, the crust was a tad difficult to cut through so forget your lady like manners and eat the whole half! The warm scones were light and fluffy served with a generous dish of jam and cream. Then the fight begins for the strawberries, brownie, mini cupcakes and friand.
If you don't want to commit to high tea, there is a variety of treats on offer to have with coffee from their very talented barista, they also do great breakfasts for hungry cyclists and excellent main meals,.
The big drawback for high tea was the need to book 24 hours in advance - but if it's a special occasion you would be planning it anyway!
If you need proof of the reputation of this place check out the Google ratings - so bypass Blu-Water Grill and keep on heading down Florence Street to THYME SQUARE. (No - they are not paying me to say this!), they just need to update their website.

Indian Special

Indian Special

A short bus ride from Uni at 58a Balaclava Rd is a great Indian restaurant, AJ's. The budget banquet proved to be very satisfying and full of flavour. We enjoyed pappadums, a selection of sauces and chutney, samosa, Lamb Chops and Chicken Tikka, this was follwoed by a tasty eggplant dish, chicken with spinach, lamb and beef. Some in the group were a bit shy of the chilli so the dishes were quite mild with fresh chilli served separately for those who wanted a bit more fire. Light and fluffy pilao rice and mint sauce complemented the food beautifully and the naan bread was fresh hot and delicious.
Our host chose the sauces for the meat dishes for us and was most attentive in suggesting the best order to enjoy the dishes to help us fully appreciate the great flavours. The budget banquet was $33.50 per person and we took some food home with us. BYO charge is a bit steep at $3.00 pp.
A terrific place to dine and would certainly recommend it for a special meal in a group or just for two. Suggest you book for a Friday or Saturday night - it's very popular with the locals. LG.
